Defensive Layouts That Survive Ironhold's Late Sieges
The late sieges in Ironhold Command broke my early fortress designs completely. I'd stacked towers wherever there was space, and the raiders simply funneled around them. The lesson: layout beats quantity.
Build chokepoints. A single narrow path forces enemies into your tower fire for longer, and that extra exposure does more damage than twice the towers spread thin. I started shaping my walls to herd attackers rather than just block them.
Keep your resource buildings deep inside and your defenses layered outward. When a wall falls, you want a second line ready, not an open path to your core. Repair crews should sit near your weakest points.
It took me a few failed sieges to internalize this, but once the chokepoint idea clicked, the harder maps became genuinely satisfying instead of frustrating.
